How frequently do you take the time to be grateful for what you have in life?

I used to take things for granted when I was younger. I think a lot of other children did the same. We were young, after all, and had no idea what life may be like beyond.

Education was one of the things we took for granted. Since attendance at school is required for all children in my nation, it was a given. We never considered how fortunate we were to have an education.

We also did not appreciate our teachers. We never considered how fortunate we were to have teachers who genuinely cared about our development and gave their all to their sessions.

As I grew older, I gradually started to value the items in my immediate environment more. As my exposure to the outside world increased, I came to understand that what I had been granted was a privilege rather than a right.

I came to see that literacy is a gift rather than a right. I became aware that there is a great deal of bloodshed and conflict in the globe, and I consider myself fortunate to live in a calm and tranquil nation. I came to the realization that having my five senses is a gift, as there are others who lack them.

I came to appreciate how wonderful the earth is and how fortunate we are to live in it.

It is simple to feel sorry for yourself when you are going through a difficult period in your life. But keep in mind that there are tens of thousands of things in life for which you should be thankful, regardless of how dire circumstances may seem.

I have included a short list of my life’s blessings below. You will also be affected by most, if not all, of the things. You will undoubtedly come up with a lot more reasons to be thankful after reading this list. Please feel free to add more in the space provided below. I would be thrilled to read them.

  5. The ability to hear: this ability allows you to hear the sound of rain, the voices of those you care about, and the melodies of music.
  6. The sense of touch, which allows you to experience the feel of your loved ones’ hands, the wind, and the texture of your clothing.
  7. The ability to smell, which allows you to enjoy the scents of fragrances, scented candles, and lovely flowers in your yard.
  8. The sense of taste, which allows you to appreciate the bitterness of bitter gourd, the sourness of pickles, the sweetness of fruits, the salinity of seawater, and the spiciness of chile.
  9. Your speech: for providing you with a means of self-expression.
  10. Your heart: for providing you with the ability to feel and for pumping blood to every part of your body every second since birth.
  11. Your lungs, which allow you to breathe and hence survive.
  12. Your immune system, which defends your body against pathogens. for keeping your health in check so you may pursue your passions.
  13. Your hands—so you can hold your loved ones’ hands, turn pages in books, and type on your computer.
